Rollin On TV visits Austin Texas – An RV Resort, Steak House and More!

Austin, Texas is covered in this January 12th  Rollin On TV program, Jeff Johnston began 2017 as one of our many upcoming RV Destination features. This week, Jeff visits Austin, Texas and particularly the hill country around Austin.

As with any RV adventure, you need to find a place to park that RV once you’re there and Jeff shows us a couple of local RV parks including the La Hacienda RV Resort and Cottages, part of the Sun Communities Resorts Group. Located about 26 miles from Austin, the resort has 243 full hook-up sites and 53 cottages. There’s a modern laundry facility, store, family pool, adult pool with hot tub and there’s even a special pet area. If you have children, there’s a great playground and even a putting green area.

If you’re into water sports, there’s swimming, fishing and boating. If you don’t have your own boat, you can rent a boat, or even Jet Skis.  There’s plenty more La Hacienda has to offer and you can see it all in the show or visit their website .

Poodies Steak House Austin, TexasWhen it comes to good ole' Texas entertainment, Jeff found it at Poodie’s Hilltop Roadhouse . The place is named after Poodie, who was Willie Nelson’s stage manager for around 35-years. He was always bringing in very well-known acts to this authentic old roadhouse.

Next ,Jeff winds down a bit in the town of Bastrop where, after a night at Poodies, Bastrop is a relaxing change. This historic town has plenty to see and do, and if you’re into Texas history, Bastrop has its share of interesting, historic places to visit.

How can you visit the Austin area and not have a nice steak dinner… Jeff discovered Murphy’s Steak House where he enjoyed a great Texas steak and of course some good ole Texas brew.

Also on this week’s show, we revisit our friends at the Rollin’ Oldies Vintage Trailer group at one of their rallies in Fort Stevens State Park in Northwest Oregon. I don’t know about you, but I enjoy stepping back in time and looking at these classic, vintage trailers. Jeff checks out the a few of these beauties that were on hand at this event.
