'Ho Ho Ho, and a Bottle of Rum'....Laurie, Rue and I, as Two Gals and a Dog, recently joined RVing Women, a national organization with over 2000 women. In early December we headed off to their holiday get together. I'm not sure about the 'rum' part but there was a lot of holiday fun! This was a 3 day trip to Fort McDowell, AZ where we stayed at the Eagle View RV Resort with about 30 other 'rigs' from the RVing Women Arizona Chapter. This area of Arizona is a favorite for RV snow-birds as the temperature is usually very comfortable! It was also our very first event with the group.
Backing up one week from this event, we were at the 'Louisville' RV show (officially called the National RV Trade Show - RVIA) in Kentucky. We literally rolled out of bed after a long flight back to our Prescott Valley, AZ home, climbed into Lacey (our Lance 1575) and headed off for the 2 hour ride to Fort McDowell. We went from warm clothing to an RV packed with sandals and capris. Gosh, life is packed with good stuff!
We immediately felt comfortable with the camaraderie of the Rving Women's group. Shortly after we backed into our site, our neighbors Jolene and Terry came over to introduce themselves. They are full-timers with a large Monarch Class A. Though it will take us time to remember everyone's names we connected with many wonderful ladies during our time there.
We had asked for time to talk to the group and give out 'prizes'. As we represent Rollin' On TV, sponsors generously provide us with some amazing gifts to hand out. We arrived, set up and rolled our big red suitcase (appropriate color for this holiday rally!), stuffed with gifts, to the resort's community center. Over the next hour we told our story, asked questions and had fun with giveaways ranging from Thetford's Eco-Smart™ Products to Carefree of Colorado ground blankets to GCI's caps and teeshirts! We explained what Rollin' On TV is and where it is shown in the Arizona area. We also introduced the group to Jeff Johnston's Facebook Live weekly interactive show called Rollin' on Live.
After this introductory meeting we learned the group now call us 'legit' - not some kind of salesy gals 😉 - later that night there was a BYOM meal (Bring Your Own Meat). Of course, I brought my veggie dish ;). The next night was a holiday feast with everyone bringing a dish. After that meal was the holiday swap a gift event. Good organized activities. Glad we joined!
Our second goal of the event was to entice ladies to give us their stories. We got two ladies on this trip to share their story on camera. Now that we have been deemed 'legit', I'm sure we will hear many more. Cindy told us her amazing story which you can read here and Linda Brown, who is the RVing National President, gave us a good overview of the organization. You can see and read her story here.
