Hi, everybody, I’m Bob Livingston with “RV Enthusiast Magazine” and “Rollin’ on TV.” And today, I have Pierce Fitzpatrick from No Dirty Water with me. We’re gonna talk about the lifeblood for all RV-ers, and that’s water. You know, we take water for granted. We just take it out of the faucet, put– you know, we drink it. We expect it to be safe and clean and tasty. It doesn’t happen all the time. For the most part, you don’t know what you’re gonna get, depending on where you travel in the county, so using some kind of a filter system is pretty critical these days. And Pierce is gonna talk about some new products that No Dirty Water has developed,

Pierce Fitzpatrick: Thanks, Bob, for having me on here. So, we’re really excited with our new product line. I’m Pierce with No Dirty Water, and our mission of our company is really simple. It’s no dirty water, and, really, anywhere. So, whether you’re RV-ing, you’re off-gridding, any sort of vehicle-based adventure, and we also have our systems ready for emergency responders and disaster situations too.

Bob: And we have a couple units here, which are pretty interesting, so the basic unit here has got two filters in it, and Pierce will talk about the filtration systems and the media that’s used here, and this is a very unique product here. This is for the people who like to get off the beaten path, the more adventurous type. You know, you may have a class B, even a four-wheel-drive class B, you’re gonna go someplace out in the middle of nowhere, you know, maybe the Forest Service campground, and you’re gonna run out of water, but there’s a stream there, so what do you do? Well, this unit here has got a built-in pump, and you can actually take the water out of the stream or the lake, and you can filter it first, and then put it into either your tank, or just run it right into the city water. This is a really clever idea.  This has got two filters in it, and tell us about the kind of filters that we’re talking about.

Pierce: Correct, yes, So, this is for if you’re hooking up to a pressurized water source, like at a campground like we’re at right now. This is sub 11 pounds, and it has two filters on it. So, we have from right to left here, we have a carbon filter, and then we have a 0.2 micron filter. And the 0.2 micron is really exciting because it takes out giardia, lead, cryptosporidium, e-coli among many others, and we have a full-detailed comparison chart on our website as well. But all of our filters our 0.2 micron is made here in the US, and it’s third-party tested, so we’re really excited about that.

You have an expectation when you go to a campground that you’re getting great quality water with your filters, and we’re really excited about our 0.2 micron filtration that we have. Logistically speaking, this allows you to reduce your single-use water bottle consumption and having to go to the store, so you have great bottled water, healthy, quality water with you at the campground.

So, we have metal filter canisters. That’s really designed that we can have something that’s very high quality and clean, and easily cleaned inside of that filter housing. So, we have– it’s a simple screw-off. All of our systems come with a filter key, but you can also use your hand to unscrew the filter as well… As you can see here, that is the carbon filter, and that is the– it’s a size of, like, a pint glass or cup. Space is at a premium in RV’s, so space and weight, and when you’re having to take it out at a campsite, being able to handle it easily is a huge plus. The other benefit of this is it’s really easily cleaned on the inside, so a lot of the filter housings do get tremendously dirty after significant use, and we noticed that with plastic housings as well.

We use a polycarbonate carbon fiber, so this is actually 3D printed. The housing is 3D printed here in the US. We’re based in Portage, Michigan. We have aluminum extrusions, so it’s built to be a really durable exoskeleton, to be incredibly lightweight, and you can throw it too. So, we’re really using this to be kind of a– it’s designed for RV-ing and the realities of RV-ing. We also have
really high-quality metal quick-connects here for easily attaching and disassembling, so when you’re setting up camp or you’re breaking down camp, we’re trying to make that as easy as possible.

Bob: All right, so this one here, this is the one we talked about earlier that’s for people who like to boondock and pick up some water,  from the lake or a river, or any other source. This is pretty unique. I don’t think anybody’s got anything like this on the market, maybe you can describe a little bit about how this is gonna work.

Pierce: Yeah, so this is similar to what we had for the pressurized campsite system, our RX System and this is really for people that are looking to go off-grid. So we have from left to right here, just on a very simplistic, so there’s a metal and 3D-printed exoskeleton, and so we have the carbon-block filter and the pre-filter here. It’s going through a 12-volt pump at three gallons a minute, and then being filtered with our 0.2 micron filter. And so, in reality this is about 1,000-plus gallons of water a day, allowing you to run it off your car battery or a small battery bank.

Bob: But can you hook it up if you’re not primitive camping? Can you just hook up and it’ll flow through the pump without restriction? So you have the best of both worlds. Pierce: Yep.

It hooks up just like any other, you know, filter setup right? The only difference is the quality of the connectors. Now, these are quick connectors, but they’re not your everyday connectors that you find in the local hardware store. These look like they’re really high quality.

Pierce: Absolutely, yeah, so having really high-quality components in our systems is really important to us, especially if you’re at a campground, the last thing you wanna do is your quick connects, or any of your plumbing connections to fail, so it’s really critical that we have high-quality components that you’re touching and feeling.

People need to know the difference between a 0.2 micron filter and a 2.0 micron filter.  The smaller the micron level, the more filtration that’s occurring and it does not restrict flow, and that’s a good thing. So anyway, so the hookup on this thing is pretty simple, it’s just like any other, but you just take it from the spigot and put it in there, and then we just hook up the other side into the motorhome, turn on the water, and we can go take a shower, right?
